The Goal

Bethel Heights Vineyard is a Winery located in the Willamette Valley in Oregan. Working with two architects, we were tasked to create a new space for their subscription members,  the Cellar Club.

To start I did a deep dive into wine and wineries, learning about what makes good wine and the lingo associated with it.

Research

In a meeting with the family in charge of Bethel Heights, we got a good feel for what they valued and thought made they're vineyard unique.

Bethel Heights Core Values

Using the core values discovered, we began to ideate on how to create a unique and elevated experience for the Cellar Club.

Just off the main property, we aimed to create a compound for the Cellar Club members that includes, a family gallery, guest suits, and a garden area.

The Answer

Family Gallery

The Family Gallery is an interactive museum filled with the family history of the vineyard. Just inside the glass walls are wooden panels inspired by the barrels used to age the wine. On the right panels, are screens detailing the family history. The left panels are angled out along the vineyard to point you to specific plating regions. The screens on these panels teach you about the types of grapes and vines planted in the different areas of the vineyard.

In the middle of the room is a bottle display of important vintages to the vineyard with information cards along the dividing wall. Behind the dividing wall is a video playing of anecdotes from family members.

All of this is done to include you in the family history and make you feel like a part of the story.

The Garden

The garden is filled with plants native to the Willamette Valley.

Throughout the garden will be kiosks, one side holding a solar panel and the other holding a screen, displaying information and pictures of the plants in the gardens. Kiosks have the option for guests to upload pictures they took to allow them to contribute to the history the Bethel Heights

Come nighttime, it will switch over to a constellation map, showcasing the brilliant Oregon skies and teaching about the constellations able to be seen and how to find them.
